Hiding a category

I am creating categories at the backend and adding courses to it. But I don't want to show this category to users yet. How can I hide a category from the users, while I am adding one in the backend?

Simply, you can't.

Actually, if the category is empty (i.e., if there are still no courses in it, or no courses for the user who is looking at the my courses page) there is the possibility to hide it

Just go to the main settings > elearning tab > you will find the above checkbox

Of course, if the category already contains courses then it will be displayed.
