Hi kobi1611,
welcome!

Sure you can have a recurring course. You can either use the "course copy" function or a course with editions (and every year you create a new edition).

With copying, you actually have a separate copy of the same course and you can modify the copy (by replacing the content, for example).
With editions, you inherit the settings of the master course. Editions are always linked to the master.

Test the two options and see what best fits your needs.

Thank you for your response, if I understand correctly the two options I will have to intervene manually as it will not create an "event" that repeats itself and remind the user in a year.
because almost all the training that we have repeat every year its like a refresh course ,you think the system is good for us

I imagined that this was your actual need.

We're aware that this is a quite common requirement, that's why we created a (commercial) customization called "Retraining".
It's described here: http://www.elearnit.net/en/technology/retraining.html

Let us know if we can further support you.

Hi Max,
In a similar vein to the above i want my users to complete a short elearning->complete quiz->get certificate (which is valid 1 year)->get automatically unenrolled.

Thus allowing them to re subscribe and complete the same course again thus get a new certificate (even if this is the next day or a week or 9 months later) but their certifcate history would show all the certificates (ie if they did the course every month there would be 12 certificates with different issue dates?

Is this the premise of BASE retraining or something that can be setup internally to the open source FormaLMS??

Hi,
well, if you want to use Forma's native functions you can simply create several copies of your courses and either have your users enroll to new "editions" or enroll them yourself. And notify them that they need to complete the course once again. Thus you'll maintain their completion (and certificate) history. You don't need to unenroll them.

Base retraining: users are always enrolled to the same course, but their status can be massively "reset" once the course expires, so that they have to complete it once again. Past certicificates and past completion dates are kept. Ideal for classroom courses (there is no notification to users, the idea is that this way you can easily organize new classroom courses).

Pro retraining: fuller automation, ideal for elearning courses. Users are automatically enrolled to a new edition of the course when their completion expires, and are automatically notified by e-mail with a configurable text that they need to complete the course once again.
